Swift yet Safe

It takes 8,460 bolts to assemble an automobile, and one nut to scatter it all over the road

A Swift owner is responsible by nature and completely liable for his actions. His personality is reflected in his/her car. It’s sleek, stylish and fast but always in control. The Swift is far more than just a car in the eyes of its owner.

The bond shared between the owner and his Swift is that of trust and friendship. The trust that the car would pull through for its owner in the most difficult and impossible of situations, A Swift owner respects and loves his car and treats it with a lot more care than you would normally do for any inanimate object.

As we are entering the holiday season, all of us are going to be partying and celebrating this Christmas and New Years. The one main issue which poses a threat and a major safety concern is drinking and driving. This is one problem which just keeps getting worse and is something which can easily be avoided.

Being responsible and in-charge of his own life, a Swift owner would never risk any damage to his car over just a few drinks. The bond shared between the owner and his Swift is to strong to risk drinking and driving, a swift owner cares about his own life, the people’s lives who are in his car and of course for his Swift, and hence drinking and driving would be a complete taboo.

As this is the season of cheer and not fear there are various ways in which we could avoid drinking and driving. Appoint a friend who’s going to be sober as the designated driver for the night, and stick by that decision. Or if all your friends are in the celebration mode, there are various agencies which provide drivers on hire for the night. So basically you drink and they drive.

If none of the above options suit you, there are always taxis available at every nook and corner. Let your car take a rest for a day and enjoy new years too, and just catch a taxi to your desired party destination.

Whatever your decision, we request you to not drink and drive this Christmas and New Years as drinking and driving is a gamble that you just cant win, no matter how lucky you may think you are.

Swift Performance

The first priority on the mind of any car buyer is performance. It leads the race in the aspects one looks at when planning to purchase a car. The interiors, exteriors and features are all second fiddle to the performance of the car.

The moment you sit in the driver’s seat and hear the engines purr grow into a loud aggressive roar it gives you the sense of pride and satisfaction and it clears any doubt in your mind as to whether you bought the right car. The engine is the heart of any car and it makes the blood flow to all parts of the body and gives life to your car.

Exactly in this way the Maruti Swift is powered by an exquisite engine, both the diesel and petrol versions set benchmarks for others to follow in their class.

We shall first talk about the petrol engine in slight detail. The all new Maruti Swift is powered by an advanced K-series engine which is patented by Maruti. It has an increased power output of 87ps, which makes for a quicker, zippier and overall a more refined driving experience.

The Swift is the only car in its class which is given life by a 16-valve light weight DOHC (Double Over Head Camshaft) engine which creates better durability and lowers friction substantially. The new Swift gives an improved mileage of 18.6kmpl and the K-series engine being all aluminum and very light weight, not only gives the Swift a improved power to weight ratio but also initiates longer spark plug life(40,000kms) and oil change intervals(10,000kms).

The diesel version of the Swift is given life by the award winning DDiS engine. The perfect partnership between Turbochargers and Intercoolers makes combustion far more efficient and gives the new Swift additional torque. The DDiS engine also works on the DOHC (Double Over Head Camshaft) system which boosts performance by leaps and bounds. The 16-valve Cylinder Head initiates better fuel combustion and cleaner emissions. The diesel variant boasts a mileage of 22.9 kmpl.

One concern on most people’s mind who desire to purchase a diesel car is, high maintenance. However, the combination of the Chain Drive Timing System and Auto Tenstioner make for very precise valve timings. This means its maintenance free for the entire life of the engine.

All these factors show us how superior the Swift is in its class and how it will always be the quintessential hatchback and always epitomized in its segment.

True Swift Love

The relationship shared between a Swift owner and his/her Swift is way beyond that of just a person and his car. This maybe the case with other cars and their owners, however, with the Swift it’s a completely different ballgame.

The Swift is the epitome in its segment; it defines the ‘hatchback’ segment. When you think Swift, some of the numerous words that flash in your head are power, performance, passion and safety. These are qualities which ooze out of the Swift and are noticed by anybody who has ever seen a Swift (I don’t think anybody hasn’t).

The bond between a Swift owner and his/her car is that of two friends. When a person gets behind the wheel of the Swift, in an instant, a strong feeling of pride and confidence is felt by the driver, and these feelings are amplified by leaps and bounds as time passes. With its sporty, masculine exteriors and elegantly crafted interiors, there’s no way one can’t help but go absolutely gaga over this car.

Heres for instance an example of the bond shared between a Swift owner and his car in his own words, the following extract is from a travelogue written by Abhishek Dixit of New Delhi, who one fine morning decided to give the office desk and computer screen a miss, and instead with a friend for company and one backpack in the boot, set off from New Delhi to Sohna. The motive here was to get away from it all for a 3 day long weekend. Here’s what he had to say:

“My sturdy Swift held up well to the trials of the road to Sohna. We had some close calls along the way, narrowly avoiding a collision with 3 youngsters, high on IMFL, who were riding a wobbling Hero Honda without lights. Then there was the pi-dog that tried to attack us in passing. He must have lost quite a few teeth on the metal skin of the Swift, for we left him howling in agony behind us…”

We would be delighted if you shared your own experiences, which have further strengthened the bond shared between you and your Swift. We would like to showcase such stories on our blog in order to further establish the extent of the relationship shared between a Swift owner and his/her Swift.

Swifter than ever

The Maruti Swift has always been considered to be one of the leading cars in the B segment of the Indian automobile industry. Born with immense power, masculine and sporty looks and plush interiors, it is a package which only a simpleton would deem imperfect. When you think of the Swift, the words which automatically come to mind are power, passion and performance.

August this year saw the launch of the revamped avatar of the Maruti Swift. Over thirty engineers from Suzuki and over a hundred engineers from Maruti burnt the midnight oil for months to give birth to the all new Maruti Swift 2011, which you now see. A lot of thought went into trying to perfect a car which was seen as the epitome of the hatchback segment.

Every aspect of the car; power, looks, comfort and of course safety were carefully and diligently improved. The results of these efforts are seen in the form of the all new Maruti Swift. The length of the new Swift has been increased from 3696mm to 3850mm and the width from 1690mm to 1695mm this basically spells out that the new Maruti Swift is bigger in comparison to its predecessor.

The wheelbase has been increased to make for superior handling. The sweptback extended headlights not only add to the style quotient of the car but also provide a much better light output and range. 185/65 R15 signature alloy wheels and the beautifully crafted wheel arches add to the athletic stance of the car.

Even the interiors of the new Swift are far superior, with an array of advanced features like the central waterfall console, and the digital sound processing (D.S.P) feature, which in accordance to your speed increases or reduces the volume of the music playing. The wrap-around silver accents add to the plush interiors and the feeling of awe while you’re sitting in the Swift. The usage of higher quality materials and superior ergonomics make one just want to sit in the Swift all day.

Maruti hasn’t forgotten to keep safety in mind, the Swift is loaded with features like Boost assist braking system (BAS), Dual SRS airbags, and a new generation ABS system make swift as safe as it is sporty.

I’m sure, if asked prior to August, whether the Swift could get any better, everybody’s answer would be no! However Maruti Suzuki engineers have yet again worked their magic and created a car which would further add to the cult status of the Swift.

A matter of true love and passion

With looks that mesmerize and power that sets the pulse racing, the Maruti Swift is definitely more than just a car – it is passion personified. The moment you set eyes on it all you can imagine is getting into the driving seat, pushing the throttle and hearing the engine roar in response. Once you actually turn the ignition on; the slow purr of the Swift that grows into a powerful roar makes you aware of this stylish car coming to life. The buzz of anticipation that you then feel is what makes Swift the most sought after cars today.

Driving a Swift brings feeling of immense pride and confidence as you cruise around in your stylish car. The Swift commands attention from everyone the moment it appears on the scene and that alone is enough to make the one behind the wheel feel like the man or the woman in control of his or her destiny. It’s this confidence that is then reflected in the supreme manner in which Swift owners drive their car. It’s a symbol of their personality – a sleek, stylish, fast car which is always in control. With safety features that allow you to relax and enjoy the ride, the Swift is a car that believes in taking care of the one who drives it.

The Swift stands for a lot more than just being a car in the eyes of its owner – they share a bond of friendship. The Swift pulls through in the most difficult of situations giving it an extra edge over any other car. The athletic stance and beautifully crafted aerodynamic lines make you fall in love with the car the moment you set your eyes on it. To add to that, the stylish vertical tail lamp, unique extended headlamp and dynamic front grille scream out power and passion, which is instantly felt by anyone sitting inside the Swift.

The Maruti Swift with its gorgeously crafted looks and astounding features amplifies its owners’ the need to achieve and be successful in life. It’s a go-getter’s car. The ones who crave for success, for power, for beauty, for speed and are yet aware of risks and put safety first are traits that define the people who swear by the Swift.

Above all, the Swift is class on wheels. The superior upholstery just makes one sink into the seat and not want to move an inch. The sporty exterior of the Swift works in perfect sync with its high quality and classy interiors. It makes for the perfect package, which includes masculine power and sportiness, as well as safety and pure class.

No wonder then that a Swift owner is supremely possessive about his or her car and won’t let anyone else behind the wheels! It’s a matter of true love and passion after all!

Why we love the Swift ?

The Swift was launched in Indian car markets in 2005 prior to being a huge success across the globe in countries like China and Hungary. It was no different in India; the Swift dominated the sales in the automobile industry and was another feather in Maruti’s hat of success. The Swift is one of the most iconic cars in Maruti’s stable and no car in its segment can challenge it.

In August 2011’ the much awaited all new Maruti Swift was launched, which took the Swift brand name to a whole new level as it was loaded with features that no car in its class possesses. The booking went off the hook and people couldn’t wait to get a glimpse of all the changes and modifications that had been done to it. This shows what a cult stature the Swift has acquired. Some of the features include:

  • The already dynamic design has been further improved as seen with the extended headlights and stylish vertical tail lamps.
  • All petrol variants have Maruti Suzuki’s patented all aluminum k-series engines which along with reducing the overall weight of the car also makes for higher spark plug life and longer oil, change intervals and petrol variants have VVT (variable valve technology) technology in their engines which boosts their overall efficiency.
  • The diesel variants are given life by Maruti Suzuki’s DDiS engine which won the international engine of the year award in Europe in 2006.
  • The ABS braking system also incorporates a motor speed regulation system for superior braking in high speed situations.
  • The new Swift has a highly insulated passenger cabin for reduction of NVH (noise, vibrations and harshness)
  • The new T- shaped dashboard with waterfall centre console adds to the spunk and attitude of the car.
  • The all-new cockpit style interiors enhances the overall in-cabin experience. It adds to the spunk and sportiness of the Swift.
  • The D.S.P (Digital Signal Processing) feature understands the speed at which you’re driving and based on that increases or reduces the volume of the music playing.
  • RBSS (Rally Based Suspension System) makes for strengthened suspension, which means you wont feel any one of the several bumps on the road.

This shows you how much more the New Swift has to offer. Maruti has dug deep yet again and surprised us by perfecting something which we all already saw as perfect. It truly fits the caption The New Swift, More Swift.

The Swift Evolution!

It all started with two wheels, which led to a revolution. The world witnessed the birth of a fierce, sporty, rigid and adventurous car, The Maruti Suzuki Swift. And it all started with an inspirational design

The evolution of the Swift began with the inspirational design of the legendary Suzuki Hayabusa. The radical and innovative design made way to the next step of developing a legend today.

Then came the birth of the GSX R4, a futuristic take on what Suzuki can achieve, just with something small. However this was a concept, which gave way for more ideas and incentives to make the next successor.

2002 gave way to a body that would eventually mould the GSX-R4 concept to the Concept S, work was still in the pipeline. Slowly making way to a brighter prospective.

Variations were made to the Concept S, including a unique open top convertible called the Concept S2. A first of its kind.

2005 was the year of the birth of the Maruti Suzuki Swift, which took the automotive industry by storm.

The Swift made waves in the industry, which gave way to newer and improved variants.

Diesel engines set a standard, and the Swift Diesel made it a level up.

Tweaks in the performance and looks, the love for this car grew larger and larger.

2010' : Maruti suzuki introduced their patented 'K' series engines which were fully aluminum engines that made for superior performance and durability.

The Swift was born as simple but excellent vehicle to make any one who drives it crazy.
It grew from those two wheels to a legend today.
It has taken off and till today, never looked back.

2011' : The all new Maruti Suzuki Swift is launched with over 13 features which no other car in its class possesses
- VVT/DDIS engine
- 15" signature alloys
- Next generation Rally based suspension system
- Tilt steering and driver seat height adjustment would be naming a few.

The Maruti Suzuki Swift is a result of a decade long evolution which from just a concept has evolved into what you see today.
It truly represents everything 'More'. More passion, excitement, energy and of course more attitude. In other words the New Swift is MORE SWIFT.
